Heavy whipping cream – forget low-fat fake cream. Get real heavy whipping cream, ideally at 40 percent fat and definitely unsweetened (the natural sweetness is quite enough once you get used to it). Whip and have it with your berries. Note however that this is absolutely delicious, and it’s easy to eat a lot of it when not hungry, slowing down weight loss. So try to not overdo it.
But it’s far from slim pickings when it comes to vegan snacks that are meat-, dairy-, and egg-free. We’re here to dig you out of your hummus-and-carrots rut with 19 sweet and savory vegan recipes that take less than 10 minutes to put together—because really, when that mid-morning crash, afternoon slump, or post-dinner pang hits, who wants to wait longer than that?
When tomatoes are out of season, you can still make great bruschetta by breaking out a can. Slowly roasting canned whole tomatoes concentrates their flavors, and mixing them with basil and red wine vinegar as a topping for toast produces a delicious year-round snack. We like to rub the toasts with garlic before spooning on the tomatoes to get an extra layer of flavor.
Eating plant-based can get expensive sometimes, especially since there are so many vegan convenience foods on the market that are delicious but often pricier than their non-vegan counterparts. If you don’t have the budget to afford all organic produce or pricey raw vegan snacks at the grocery store, you can still eat cruelty-free—just check out 10 Healthy Vegan Snacks That Cost Less Than $5 to Make!
Easy peasy. Mix a little plant-based protein powder with water or almond milk to create a thick pudding then top it with your favourite fruit and a sprinkling of nuts or seeds. I love cherries or strawberries and almonds, sliced banana and walnuts or chopped apple and hemp seeds. To make a peanut butter protein pudding, add 2 tbsp of powdered peanut butter to vanilla protein and mix with water to make a thick, mousse-like pudding.
Eating snacks with the right ratio of nutrients, with the right calories, will help keep your body energized and help you lose weight. Protein (plus exercise) fuels the growth of lean muscle mass, which boosts metabolic rate and increases calorie burn. Fiber, meanwhile, helps improve digestion and keeps you from binging on fats and sugars. So while there's no food that will literally "burn fat" while you eat it, smart choices with these ingredients will help your body operate at maximum efficiency. Bowerman suggests snacks under 200 calories, with 10 grams of protein and close to 5 grams of fiber. Here are 22 of our favorite healthy snacks.

Protein: Studies show that women are less likely to munch mindlessly when they include protein in meals and snacks. For reasons not entirely understood, protein makes your belly feel full longer, and research suggests you're less likely to crave treats when you're satisfied. We've designed the diet to give you extra protein in simple forms — like a hardcooked egg or nuts — throughout the day.
This is more of a dessert than a snack but I still eat it for a snack quite often, especially during the summer. To make it add frozen strawberries, a small piece of frozen banana and 1/2 a scoop of vanilla vegan protein powder to a high-powered blender. Add just enough plant-based milk to allow it to blend, just a few tablespoons is perfect, and blend until smooth.
Don't let the high fat content in pistachios scare you off -- most of the fat is unsaturated or "good" fat. Eat 20 pistachios, and you'll only take in 80 calories and less than a gram of saturated fat. Plus, they're rich in protein, fiber, and several key vitamins and minerals. To avoid an unhealthy dose of sodium, eat them raw or dry roasted without salt.
I just busted out laughing to the point that my mom asked me if I was okay hahahahaha!!! Oh you are the best–the mummy part is what really got me?? Yes autocorrect was being particularly insulting with both of those suggestions, it must be feeling a little post-Christmas cranky. The sparkly coating of sugar is what made me decide they were passable as NYE fare too. All things sparkly are A okay, yes?! 🙂 Um of course I will send you a batch! A rainbow batch that will arrive at 11:58 pm on New Years? Oh and no worries, I have a mushy recap/best of planned for tomorrow too?
I saw this post and have been meaning to check it out! I tried the whole home-made gummy snacks awhile back with agar (although i used flakes so maybe that was my problem…it was all that i could find at the store…although i always forget about looking online ha!). So my problem was that they weren’t gummy enough so wasn’t quite a fan of the texture. Still ate them and flavor was delicious, but was looking for that gummy factor since thats what the kids always go for…are these gummy in texture? If so i’m ALL on top of it! They look gorgeous btw…and love your random facts haha! I hate autocorrect sometimes =)
Popcorn is high in fiber and even delivers a little protein. A 1-ounce serving (about 3 cups) of air-popped popcorn has 4 grams of fiber, almost 4 grams of protein and clocks in at 110 calories. This combination makes it a snack with staying power. Popcorn is actually a whole grain and 3 cups is a huge serving-especially when you compare it to other crunchy, salty snacks like chips. Many companies are making bagged popcorn, see our favorite healthy popcorn picks.
