Oh man, it’s already worth making baked pears just because of how great the kitchen smells when you shove them in the oven. They’re so easily prepared too: Slice a pear in half, scoop out the pit with a spoon. Now add a couple of walnuts, sprinkle cinnamon over them and drizzle maple syrup or honey (for non-vegans) on top. Off they go in the oven for about 25 minutes on 380°F/180°C.
I think you could definitely pass these as “New Years Eve”-ish!! So sparkly and festive. 🙂 Also the idea of a black eyed pea cupcake totally made me laugh…sounds like something I’d consider too, haha. Hope the last few days of your 2016 are lovely, these Gummies look incredible!! (I had the same auto correct problem just now, glad I caught it before I told you your “dummies” look incredible!
Split this breakfast recipe in half to make a healthy snack with 200 calories, 11 grams protein, and 3.5 grams fiber. Not only will it help prep your body for fat burn, but it may also boost your energy levels (so you're more likely to get to the gym, perhaps?): Walnuts are rich in serotonin, a hormone that produces feel-good chemicals in the brain.

I’m pretty sure this post will make vegan marathon training more doable for me! I’m doing pretty good, but I get sooooo hungry between meals the day or two after a long run. This should help hold me over. Perfect timing too, because in the next few weeks I’ll be up to the longest runs. I just tried the endurance crackers and the protein bars and despite the fact that my crackers came out WAY thicker than yours did, they’re still great snacks! I think my favorite are the oatmeal squares. Awesome breakfast for sure! Thank you for the awesome ideas. :-)
Oatmeal is a complex carb, meaning it helps fill you up without spiking your blood sugar. Plus, it's a good source of fiber and eating more fiber helps people lose weight and keep it off. While we think of it typically as breakfast, a small bowl of oats makes a hearty, filling and delicious snack. To make this snack more convenient-keep a packet or two of unsweetened instant oatmeal at your desk or make overnight oats in a mason jar.

Freekeh is a cereal made from roasted green wheat. That's the one and only ingredient in this snack's original blend, making it an ideal packaged snack. With zero sodium, four grams of fiber, six grams of protein, and only 130 calories per quarter-cup serving, you can help yourself to an extra-large serving. Try rosemary sage or tamari when you want to mix things up.
A calorie-free beverage doesn't qualify as a real snack, but if you find yourself scouting the kitchen just because you're bored, rather than hungry, this tasty drink may just hit the spot. Plus, green tea has been shown to help dieters lose more weight, according to a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, thanks to its metabolism-boosting antioxidant compound called EGCG.
I saw this post and have been meaning to check it out! I tried the whole home-made gummy snacks awhile back with agar (although i used flakes so maybe that was my problem…it was all that i could find at the store…although i always forget about looking online ha!). So my problem was that they weren’t gummy enough so wasn’t quite a fan of the texture. Still ate them and flavor was delicious, but was looking for that gummy factor since thats what the kids always go for…are these gummy in texture? If so i’m ALL on top of it! They look gorgeous btw…and love your random facts haha! I hate autocorrect sometimes =)

If you need your snack to have real staying power, go for a combo of good protein and a little bit of fat. A homemade egg salad is a great choice. Chop up one whole egg and one egg white, then mix with a tablespoon of reduced-fat mayonnaise. The high-quality protein in the eggs will fuel your body for hours, while the fat helps slow digestion, so you'll feel full and energized longer.
I’ll just accept the weird double agar thing if it can bring us vegan gummies and vegan cheese! Is this cheese recipe still in the testing/tweaking phase or to be shared soon? I am very intrigued now…plus I have a lot of agar agar on hand lol 😀 “Sugar-tastic” that is the perfect word for the packaged kind–no better than candy really. My first two flavor ideas here were orange and apple because I just love both of those juices, but the apple ones were not an attractive color. The orange ones are great, but if it’s fruity and a snack I am probably going to love it. Ha yes, save the black-eyed pea cupcakes for next year–NOT! Happy new years Brandi!!

Eating snacks with the right ratio of nutrients, with the right calories, will help keep your body energized and help you lose weight. Protein (plus exercise) fuels the growth of lean muscle mass, which boosts metabolic rate and increases calorie burn. Fiber, meanwhile, helps improve digestion and keeps you from binging on fats and sugars. So while there's no food that will literally "burn fat" while you eat it, smart choices with these ingredients will help your body operate at maximum efficiency. Bowerman suggests snacks under 200 calories, with 10 grams of protein and close to 5 grams of fiber. Here are 22 of our favorite healthy snacks.
Simple. Delicious. Addictive. 8 grams of protein per bar. Meet the protein bars that carried us through miles and miles of walking throughout NYC! I added protein powder to rev up the protein in these bars, making sure they would give me lasting energy when out and about. I wasn’t really sure what they would taste like with 1/2 cup of protein powder, but I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome! Just make sure you use a pleasant tasting protein powder and you’ll be fine. I used an unsweetened rice protein powder (Garden of Life) which worked great as it doesn’t have a strong flavour.
You don't need to go on a grapefruit diet to reap the health benefits of this ruby fruit. A whole grapefruit has about 100 calories and 4 grams of fiber. Not to mention, it delivers 100 percent of women's vitamin C needs for the day. That's a lot of nutrition packed into this tart citrus fruit (see other powerful health reasons to eat more grapefruit).
